ART interventions can be used concurrently with other therapy and have been shown to produce a fast recovery. Accelerated resolution therapy is designed to be delivered in one to five sessions, each around 60 to 120 minutes. The client sets the pace of ART sessions and chooses which memories and symptoms they’d like to focus on and IF and when they’d like to share.
The client is encouraged to create their own solutions to their traumatic experience as the therapist helps them shift the memory to something more positive. Feelings associated with traumatic memories and stressful images are changed, but not the facts. The client may recall details about the trauma but no longer experience the physical and emotional symptoms.
HOW CAN ART HELP?
ART is perfect for those who have tried and been unsuccessful with other approaches, someone who would like to further their healing, someone who wants the option to work through past traumas without having to share the details of their traumatic event, and/or looking for short term treatment with quick results. In just one session, ART can significantly reduce the symptoms of trauma-related issues and other mental health symptoms including:
- Post traumatic stress
- Grief and loss
- Issues related to past abuse including sexual abuse
- Panic attacks
- Inner child healing
- low self-esteem
- Substance abuse
- And more
